STEPS IN PROCESSING WORK PERMIT
An immigration officer at a visa post will determine if
the caregiver meets the criteria for the live-in
caregiver program by assessing the caregiver against the
program criteria.
CIC will issue instructions for a medical assessment to
the caregiver if it is determined that they meet the
program criteria.
CIC will assess the caregiver against all other
immigration requirements after the immigration medical
assessment is passed. These requirements include
provisions relating to identity, public safety and
national security.
The caregiver, in most cases, will be required to attend
a personal interview at some point during the assessment
process.
STEPS AFTER ISSUANCE OF WORK PERMIT
An Immigration Officer will provide the caregiver with a
Letter of Approval to present to an Immigration Officer
at a Port of Entry in Canada once all of the assessment
criteria are met.
An Immigration Officer will issue a Visitor Visa to the
caregiver if the caregiver is a citizen of a country
whose citizens require visas for Canada. The visa will
be affixed into the caregiver's passport.
The caregiver will have to present the following to an
Immigration Officer at a Port of Entry upon arriving in
Canada: A valid passport and the Letter of Approval
provided by the visa post.
An Immigration Officer at the Port of Entry will issue a
work permit to the caregiver. |
